PROJECTS:

This project is a hommage to Louise Bourgeois. I have actually seen her art in museum Voorlinden and I was totally mesmerised by them. By analysis, I thoroughly understand her essential elements of her work, handwriting and impact, after I transformed this into something new and personal with my own artistic statement. She is mainly inspired by body art and feminism. She creates to symbolise her feelings, the feminine soul and beauty and psychological pain that she has been going through in her experiences. I developed and recreated an installation performance which refers to a cage, where I showcase some personal photo's and Louise Bourgeois’ artwork photographs. With the hanging mirrors to reflect the inside story of the garment. It is a garment which is surrounded by my emotions, translated to love, happiness, sadness, loneliness, anxiety and feeling stuck. At the first sight it might give you the impression like you are suffocating in this snake a-like garment, but the idea is that you can release the ropes whenever you want to set free and escape. It is about self-realisation. I took the material as a resistance that I am struggling with and I cut, I ripped off materials and by separating the different treatments it represents the emotional rollercoaster I have been going through in my personal life story. With this garment I want to express my feelings to the outside world and how I felt internally.
