You could read very deeply into this collection’s inspirations: lingerie and tracksuits, both types of garment are about functionality. My starting point of this collection is inspired by trackpants with side snap buttons running from the waist all the way to the cuffs. Not only the appearance from these buttons are looking nice and playful, they can be also used in many functional ways like deconstruction, transforming silhouettes, etc. In this assignment ‘Bending Functionality’, I want to experiment, do research and discover these options within side buttons. The fits are paired with lingerie, mainly focused on the way it highlights and reveals parts of the body. The elastic gathering and unexpected cut-outs to reveal lingerie elements and skin have an instant appeal, as do its playful use of snap buttons. The big broad shoulders accentuate the waist for a formalism, but sexy look with a bit of romance, which gives a 90’s fashion vibe. The theme contrasts the delicate with workwear elements. One design is made in Clo3D and presented as my final piece.
