Hi there! My name is Christy Tang, you can also call me by Yauyau (pronounced as Yawyaw). I am a third year Fashion Design student from Willem de Kooning Rotterdam, who has a great passion for conceptual design, draping, visualizing designs, tailoring, treating fabric manipulation, developing prints, re- and deconstructing designs into fashion. My base focusses on a handmade approach with an eye for color, proportion, shape and volume. It’s very mixed and more about a feeling, a vision driven by emotions. My design process usually starts and focuses on construction from a garment and use versatility to built a playground around it. Destroying and transforming my pieces in the best way possible. It is always about finding new ways to express something. Inspired by topics as sustainability and individuality, I suggest a different type of versatility through radical silhouettes and a new take on both femininity and masculinity and everything in between. My destructive inclination come from the innocence of being a kid and a teenager, just doing things without questioning them too much. Using my intuitive instincts and senses to create ideas in fashion is what drives me into my creativity. I never let my critical mind interrupt the outpooring. As a designer I want to push boundaries and limits and play with the acceptable and unacceptable. I believe that there’s no envy or desire to have the most, it’s about tolerance, support and a process of constant learning.
